Spring Cleaning your interior design

Spring Clean your Interior Design with 5 Fresh Ideas

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be cleaning behind the toilet and taking down cobwebs. Spring cleaning can also mean freshening up your space and breathing new life into your interior design. These quick pick-me-up interior design tips will help you freshen up your space for the new year. Let’s take a look!

#1: A fresh coat of paint

There are many reasons you might want to repaint your room, including the fact that you may not like the color it currently is. If you struggle with your room being too dark, you may want to lighten the color on your wall. If it’s too bright (maybe that orange you picked out looks like the sun when the light hits it) you may want to tone it down. Still, some other reasons for a fresh coat of paint are if you have discolored or damaged walls – patching them up and putting a fresh coat of paint over the top will make your room feel like brand new. Remember to touch up your baseboards and trim as well!

#2: New curtains

People often forget to swap out their curtains. While it’s important to remember to wash your curtains every now and again, replacing them with new, more up-to-date samplings can help your room feel like new again. Remember that your choice of curtain can also help you keep warm air out and cool air in during the summer, or the reverse in the winter months. Choose wisely in terms of material, but don’t go for something cheap if you plan to hang onto your curtains for years to come.

#3: A new rug

If you don’t have an area rug, or the area rug you have by the door is totally torn up and stained, a fresh, new rug can help change the look of your space. Even just removing the rug can totally change the look and feel of your room. Try rolling up your current rug (clean really well under there!) and see how it looks. You may even like it better without!

#4: Rearrange your decor

Sometimes, making a space look like new can be done simply by shuffling things around. Swap things from one side of a shelf to the other, or put pictures and paintings in other spots on the wall. Just shifting things from one wall to another can help you feel like you’re not trapped in the same place every day.

#5: Declutter

Remember as you go along with your spring cleaning that decluttering, or using clever storage methods, will allow you to have a more modern, less cluttered space. It also may make room for new gadgets, gizmos, and decor that you may have had your eye on! So if you never use the espresso machine, it may be time to donate it so you can buy the stand mixer you always wanted.
