Deciding on the Right Mirror For Your Space

Do you want to change up the atmosphere or decor in your home? One of the simplest and most cost effective ways to completely transform a space is to add the perfect mirror. Mirrors make for fantastic illusions if you are dealing with a small or awkward room. They also immediately level up the grace and elegance of a space with their shine. How do you decide on the right one for you? There are so many shapes and designs and various things to consider before hanging up this new centerpiece. Take a look at our tips for deciding on the right mirror for you!

Size

The first step to choosing your ideal mirror is to determine how much space you have to use. Every person’s house is different, meaning every wall will need something different. If you have a large wall, you don’t want to get a tiny mirror that will be drowned out and lost in the wall. On the other hand, a huge mirror might look strange against a small wall. It’s also important to keep in mind that a mirror can create the illusion that your space is double its size. Perhaps for a large wall, you might consider using several mirrors to make up for their lack of size. You can be as creative as you want! And once you have an idea of how big you want your mirror, move on to style.

Style

A mirror is just like any other piece of artwork – every one has its own style and vibe and look. You probably want to choose a mirror that blends in well with your current style, or would be a nice complement. Mirrors can absolutely be your statement piece, but you want the statement to marry into your current theming. Whether you have a traditional style or something a bit more modern and edgy, you want your mirror to follow suit. Also similar to artwork, most mirrors have frames. It’s crucial to take the style and material of the frame into account as well. While the mirror needs to match your aesthetic, the frame does too. Now that you’ve determined the size and shape

Shape

You may not think about the shape of a mirror being that important, but it can make a huge difference. While you want your mirror to work well with the space’s style, you also want to make sure that the shape of it stays in harmony with your furniture and other decor. If you have a lot of clean lines, maybe you’ll want to find a mirror with a thin frame or no frame at all. Or if you have a more wacky and fun style design, choose a mirror with odd shapes and lines! Work with the things around you to make your space perfect for you!
